Situated amidst the rolling hills of Vandanmedu region near Kumily, the access to Junction Homestay is easy and yet it is pleasantly tucked away from the tourist hub. The modern house, built in 2005 by Mr. Biju Thomas and his wife is a fantastic blend of modern facilities merging well with the Kerala tradition and countryside feel on the outside. Ensuring that the guests get a glimpse of Kerala, all furniture and furnishings are in traditional materials and designs. The spacious airy rooms give a chance for city dwellers to take in the fresh air. The view from the first floor rooms is exceptionally good as the area is surrounded by the reserve forest and plantations. The area, being a cardamom haven, is dotted with plantations. With multiple traditional drying units in the vicinity, the smell of fresh cardamom never leaves the air - a pleasant change from traffic and pollution.
Having business interest in cardamom, Mr Biju has always grown up with the intricate details of the processes. This makes for a great conversation on the nuances of cardamom over breakfast. Mrs. Molly is also great company and can give you some valuable insights into Kerala food and how it's cooked. Be ready for some culinary delights in typical Kerala style.
Pets: Pets are allowed in the Thomas household. Infact, there is plenty of room for your pet but do discuss this with the hosts before arriving.
