Fort Rampura leaves you with a distinct feeling that you have gone back in time. The 700 year old Fort is majestic and every inch of it speaks of an era long gone. Today, the Fort is home to Mr. Keshavendra Singh and his wife, Padmini. Over the last four years, they have hosted many diplomats and explorers who have gone back irreversibly smitten by the experience. While Keshav is a man of few words, Padmini is full of exuberance and the couple has not one iota of air or arrogance about them.
You can spend hours just exploring the wonders of this majestic Fort and walking around its perimeter. The Fort's moat now serves as a mustard field and during winters it is carpeted by bright yellow mustard flowers. It has been the site of many photographs and "Bollywood moments" as described by one guest. The Fort has many living rooms which are home to countless unique and priceless artifacts, rungs, furniture and more. Trophies and skins of giant man eaters and other rogue animals shot by Mr. Singh's Father bedeck many of the rooms. The game room offers guests the chance to shoot a game of billiards or tap into the homestay's extensive reading material.
Even with all its grandeur, Fort Rampura is extremely warm and relaxing. It is a wonderful fusion of India's historical wealth as well as its contemporary style. This ambience is also reflected the homestay's three large and beautifully done bedrooms, all of which have spacious and flawless bathrooms. Plenty of activities can be arranged for guests. A picnic by the River Pahuj, boating on the Yamuna, a visit to the local market and a walk through the ravines are very popular amongst guests.
A stay at Fort Rampura is an experience, which always exceeds expectations. Anyone who has had the pleasure of staying here will vouch for the fact that the Fort is not just out of the way but also, out of the ordinary.
