In the heart of Kottayam, Souparnika Heritage Home enjoys the proximity of town life along with the serenity of the surrounding residential area. It is home to Mr. and Mrs. Nair who have created an adjoining apartment for guests, giving them as much privacy as they like whilst maintaining the traditional hospitality of a Homestay. The apartment is built with typical Keralan features, such as carved wood-paneled rooms and high ceilings, and has a large terrace under a pyramidal wooden roof structure. Guests have their own sitting room, kitchen and laundry room, in traditional style but with all modern comforts. Just 3km from the train station and 1km from bus station, Souparnika is perfectly placed to discover the surrounding attractions of Kumarokam, the backwaters and nearby villages; Mr. and Mrs. Nair can arrange travel and tours. Kottayam itself is worth exploring, and the couple is happy to show guests local markets and attractions such as the Valliapalli and Cheriapalli 13th century churches. Mr. and Mrs. Nair are Hindus and can notify guests on any temple festivals. These festivals tend to be very vibrant, and even involve majestic elephant processions. The couple enjoy the company of their guests; Mr. Nair likes to talk to guests about local customs, such as the Onam Harvest Festival (August) and the snake boat races, and he also enjoys getting an insight into the different cultures of his guests.
