Located about 12 kilometers away from the international and domestic airports, 'The Estate' is situated in Mehrauli, keeping it far off from the hustle bustle of the main city. Having her professional background in the hospitality industry, Mamta Sharma makes for a very welcoming and efficient host. She started the homestay with the purpose of giving its guests a mix of both, Indian home-like hospitality and hotel-like services. Being a travel enthusiast, she has traveled a lot and loves interacting with new people. According to Mamta, her aim is to provide a secure accommodation in an interesting environment, especially for solo female travelers.
The homestay is part of a posh colony, Sultanpur Estate, in South Delhi. It is located in its annexe, across its well maintained lawn. The annexe has five guest rooms with private balconies facing the lawn including a family suite. It provides for sit-out areas like a lounge, dining room and a sunny terrace garden on top of all the rooms. The homestay is artistically designed in western style with spacious rooms and modernly equipped attached bathrooms. The most attractive sit out area is the main lawn facing the annexe. It includes a hammock and a garden swing seat facing the expanse of the lawn. The high hedges on one side of the garden provide for a serene and private environment.
The Estate is close to the historic Qutab Minar and beautiful Hindu temples complex at Chattarpur. One of the finest examples of Indo-Islamic architecture, Qutab Minar is the tallest brick-minaret in the world. The foundation of the tower was laid down by Qutubu’d - Din Aibak in 1199 AD. The purpose behind the construction of Minar was for the use of mu'azzin (crier) to give calls for prayer. Qutab Minar is made up of red and buff sandstone, containing intricate carvings and verses from the Holy Quran. The Minar also contains numerous inscriptions in Arabic and Nagari characters, which narrate its history.
Peace of mind in a laidback atmosphere with the excitement of exploring the culture of the capital is what attracts many to 'The Estate'.
