Sweet Home

Sweet Home

What's this?

The luxurious home of The Kaimals is miles away from city life. And almost an entity on its own. The homestay is managed by Mr. P. V. K. Kaimal and his wife, Sajni. The couple has a successful background in government service and were based in Delhi till 2004. After retirement, they retuned to their ancestral property and recently turned it into a homestay. The couple is reticent yet friendly and prefer to give people their own space.
The home has two enormous guest rooms to offer, which have large wooden wardrobes and well-maintained bathrooms. The home is a fusion of traditional architecture and modern design sensibilities. As evident by the countless oil-lamps that stand next to their leather living room furniture. The home has three communal areas indoors. But you can put a chair anywhere on the 4000 sq. ft. property and put up your feet. Swings hanging from their centuries-old trees afford a lovely view of their pond and the waddling ducks. In the front is another open-air seating area, a heart-shaped lawn. The homestay also has a temple dedicated to the Snake-Goddess where prayers are offered periodically. And guests can partake in this spiritual experience.
The home is 30 minutes from Fort Cochin and 1 hour from Alleppey. So with a day tour one can cover all the tourist destinations in Fort Cochin like Chinese Fishing Nets, Santa Cruz Basilica, Jewish Synagogue and others. A cruise on the backwaters would require advanced planning, but Mr. Kaimal will be happy to offer his assistance wherever required.
