With over 4,000 guests from over 60 countries, worldwide, Colonel Lamba's Indian Homestay is already a respected name amongst world travelers. Credit for this achievement goes to Col. Lamba's uncompromising manner of functioning. An affable and enterprising man, Col. Lamba goes out of his way to ensure the convenience and safety of his guests. He has a strong network of trustworthy people who pick up guests for sightseeing and shopping from the home itself, and who are discouraged from extending unsolicited advice. His soft-spoken wife, Pushpinder supervises the kitchen and the housekeeping staff. The Lambas serve an extensive array of truly delectable vegetarian dishes that have charmed guests "to consider becoming vegetarian."
Since most tourist destinations in Agra close by 5pm, Col. Lamba has gone the extra mile to provide entertainment for his guests. There are televisions in all four guest room as well as in the communal areas and a wide selection of reading material. The two-level terrace offers a view of the Taj and a 360 degree view of the city, the perfect place to spend a quiet evening. All the rooms have personal bathrooms that are spacious and well-maintained, though not all are ensuite.
The home is a thirty-minute drive from the Agra Cantt. Railway Station and a little over 3 kilometers from the Taj Mahal. As the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Baby Taj are relatively close-by one can cover them easily in two days. He can also guide you to places where the famous Slumdog Millionaire was shot. And give you insights about lesser known attractions of the city like the Mughal Heritage Walk. With such a wealth of information, experience and enthusiasm there's little wonder that Colonel Lamba's Indian Homestay has received the Top Rated Hostel Award, two years in a row.

Agra
With the world-renowned Taj Mahal as its calling card, Agra is perhaps the most famous city in India. The city was immortalized in the epic Mahabharata as Agraban, a part of Lord Krishna's land. However, as a political and cultural capital it gained significance in the 16th century, under the Mughal dynasty...[read more]
