Home to some of the earliest settlements in peninsular India, the state of Karnataka has witnessed the rise and fall of many dynasties from the Mauryan Empire to the great warrior Tipu Sultans kingdom.

The state boasts of lush greenery near the Karwar region and beautiful beaches along the west coast. The northern part of state has a somewhat dry and rocky terrain. One of the highest water falls in world, Jog falls are also located in Karnataka. Adventure activities like white water rafting, rock climbing and trekking are possible in the state owing to its unique geographical terrain. Karnataka also has its share of plentiful wildlife in its sanctuaries and national parks- Bandipur, Nagarhole, B R Hills and Ranaganathittu etc.

Karnataka is host to many unexplored hill stations like Coorg; known as Scotland of East and also to some of magnificent architectural structures like the Brahman temples in Aihole, the second largest dome in world at the Gol Gumbaz in Bijapur and two World heritage sites - Hampi and Pattadakal. The largest statue of Lord Gomateswara at Shravanabelagola is also located in this state. There are some of the ancient and most splendid sculptures in caves at Badami, the only active worship Hoysala temple at Belur and Halebeedu, the capital of Hoysalas.

The weather of Karnataka state is as unique as its geography; the night is pleasant throughout the state with the day time climate varying according to the terrain from hot afternoons in northern region to moderate weather in the other parts of the state.

In Karnataka one can gather a varied experience ranging from the bustling and happening night life in the silicon valley of India-Bangalore, beach holidays in Mangalore, Udupi belt to the rejuvenating solitude in natures lap at some of its coffee plantation estates located in Coorg and Chikmagalur.
