Ketharam

Sensitively chosen to match his artistic sensibilities, Mr. Biju, along his wife built their house on the edge of the Vembanad Lake four years ago, in the Pallunthury area of Cochin. With wide wooden verandahs, typical of Kerala architecture, the house is well maintained and a treat for those looking for a peaceful holiday. The house emanates creative vibes as the family is involved in arts of many forms; Mr. Biju is an acclaimed regional painter and his brother a movie director.

A typical Chinese fishing net stands in the front of the house next to the newly built jetty into the water. A wide green garden is a wonderful contrast to the bright yellow walls of the house. 4 spacious and well ventilated rooms have personal sit outs which overlook the green carpet of ‘Kappapaya’ sea weeds or the serene backwaters. The sit outs have cane swings to lounge in and perfect to rock lazily with a book. Each wall is adorned with an impressive painting done by Biju himself.

Hospitality in the ‘Ketharam’ house is endearing beyond language and one instantly feels at home with the family.
