Imagine having your morning coffee on a terrace which offers a panoramic view of forest hills and velvety tea plantation, looking mystic in the morning as the mist rolls through them. Located amidst 75 acres of cardamom plantation along with some vanilla, cocoa, coffee and pepper cultivation, ‘Cedar Woods’ Homestay is inhabited by Jean Philips, his wife Anita and their daughter. After working in New Delhi in the field of finance, Jean shifted to Munnar to take care of his family property and estate in Munnar. Anita is a housewife who likes gardening and cooking. The hosts of the home will be willing to share information regarding cardamom and other cultivation in the region through treks and estate walks. The breakfast served to the guest is a customary Kerala breakfast which can be something as basic as rice gruel with some vegetable curry and pickles.
Cedar Woods makes a comfortable home with large rooms, full-size windows and cozy beds. The house is neatly furbished with small essentials here and there which make a house a home. The two guest rooms have well-equipped bathrooms attached to them with 24 hours hot water supply facility. The most interesting space is the terrace on first floor which gives a lovely view of the green hills around, which are at a lower level than the house. Away from the main town, the house provides for a perfect experience to invigorate one’s senses and admire Munnar for what it is... tranquility amongst the woods.
The homestay is located eight kms away from Munnar in Pallivasal. This is the venue of the first Hydro Electric Project in Kerala and a place of immense scenic beauty. Another interesting tourist spot near the house is Kallar Water Falls which is always worth exploring, especially during the monsoons.
This dream home in Munnar is the best place to do ‘nothing’ and yet enjoy every moment of your stay here. Come, experience and cherish it forever.

When travelling from Periyar one will need to traverse the Cardamom Hills with its fresh scented air. With an altitude of around 1600m, Munnar is the centre of Kerala’s principal tea growing region which was developed in the late 19th century by Scottish planters...[read more]
