Located at the edge of the Napoklu village in Coorg, Naladi Homestays is built on 15 acres of coffee plantations, at the Kerala- Coorg border. Mr. Suman and his wife Reshma built the home in 1995 with the ancestral home still untouched in the foreground. With the Famous Thadiyandamol peak in the backdrop, the house is situated conveniently at the foothills and serves best as a base camp for trekkers.
Privacy for guests stays intact as the entire first floor is set up for guests, and has a separate entrance. An option for a suite can also accommodate a large family with a living area and a separate bathroom for themselves. Moderately set up, all four rooms have a fantastic view of the lush green vicinity either overlooking the plantations or the smaller Nilgiris ranges. The furniture in the room is built from the estate wood in rich dark browns or taken from the ancestral home. If one is lucky, a Malabar squirrel or a barking deer can be spotted from the balcony. A large sit out with a cane swing is perfect to kick the shoes and relax.
Reshma insists on a typical Coorg breakfast for guests and is eager to share some delightful recipes. The milk is fresh from the cow-shed of the house. Though the hosts are not keen on guests bringing their pets along, small dogs can be brought after discussion.
Well suited for both an action packed holiday and a contrasting peaceful one, the house is elusive and central to many activities at the same time.
- Having grown up amidst coffee plantations, both Suman and Reshma have in-depth knowledge of coffee. A walk in the estate with them is a must.
- The Naladi River flows beneath an old bridge right behind the house. An easy picnic lunch can be packed for those who want to sit by the river.
- Treks to Thadiyandamol, the highest peak in Coorg can be arranged under the supervision of professional guides. 10 out of the 19 kilometers from the base is a motorable road, for which jeeps can be arranged if required.
- An Indo-British adventure camp has been set up 13 kilometers from Naladi Homestays. With world class equipment and trainers, guests can give a shot at quad biking, paintball, rifle shooting, mountain biking and aerial assault courses.
- Pick up and drop can be arranged on request.
- Internet is available for guests.
- Since, phone networks are weak, guests are given a separate pre-paid number which had good connectivity.
