Having acquired its name after overcoming an illustrious property conflict in the days when cases were taken to the Privy Council in London, Victory Home stands on 100 acres of coffee and pepper plantation. Home to retired army officer Ponappa and his wife Jancy, the house is an ideal retreat for busy city dwellers or travelers who want to take in the pristine surroundings of Coorg.
A mild elevation from a winding road leads up to the house, which has been given an intentional weathered look. Having travelled varied parts of India during service, the hosts have ingeniously added in numerous flavours to the construction and intricately carved furniture of the house. Red oxide flooring and plentiful wood used from the estate gives a warm feeling to the house, which is decorated in various brass artifacts and pictures of ancestors. Colour themed rooms in blue, red and yellow are creatively set up with large windows for ventilation. The house is surrounded by abundant flora planted with careless intent, conducive to the wild vicinity of the place.
With such a rich experience, there is never a dearth of anecdotes and discussions, whether it is golf, plantations or cities of India, all over some delectable home-made wine. Passionate and experimental with cooking, Jancy is thrilled at serving not only some delectable Coorg food but Chinese and Continental as well.
- An ideal place for golf enthusiasts, the hosts can arrange to get entry into many golf courses. Having founded one of them, Ponappa and Jancy have access to all the golf courses around the house.
- With a spa and beauty treatment clinic set up in the adjoining town of Gonikoppal, Jancy is ever-ready to take the guests for a relaxing massage or a more elaborate Panchakarma therapy.
- Walks in the estate guided by the experienced manager of the estate are a must on early mornings. A variety of animals and birds can be spotted on a languid walk.
- The two streams close by provide a perfect setting for a picnic. Some home-made lunch can be packed for a lazy afternoon by the clear water.
- Most places to see in Coorg are located not more than 45 kilometers away from the house. Short trips to Irpu falls, Nagarhole forest, Bylakuppe Monastery, Kakkabe, Naalnad palace can be arranged on request.
- Four fishing ponds are situated adjacent to the house. Many visitors like to grab their angling or fishing gear and head to the ponds on a sunny day.
- A passionate cook, Jancy is pleased to share and learn recipes from guests, who are always welcome to give a hand in the kitchen or whip up something for fun.
- Internet facility is available for guests.
- Pick up and drop can be arranged on request.
