Ideally christened ‘Jagale’ or ‘nowhere’ in Kannada, the estate is elusively tucked behind thick foliage and curvaceous roads of Coorg. With the Nagarhole forest in the backyard, the house is privy to a rich tropical flora apart from the 40 acres of coffee plantation. Having been born and brought up in Coorg, Ramesh and Pavithra with their two daughters are passionate to let more people experience their idyllic life in the estate.
Two wooden cottages and a room on the roof of the house are open to visitors who want to immerse in the serene surroundings of the area. With great attention to detail, the rooms are comfortable and warm. A hammock and a tyre swing outside the cottages are perfect to indulge in. The one thing that strikes guests are the number of books and easy reads in the bathroom and the rooms; a thoughtful gesture for many. One can also dig into the large basket full of magazines and comics on the stairway landing. The open sit out in front of the rooms is perfect to catch the morning sun.
Authentic coffee and Coorg food are a must to savour in the house. Pavithra insists that one meal must incorporate the traditional food for the guests to have a wholesome Coorg experience. She is also pleased to share recipes and try out dishes made by guests who venture into the ever-open kitchen.
Ardent dog lovers who have converted their passion into serious breeding of German Shepherds, Ramesh and Pavithra’s home is perfect for the herd of eight. Animal lovers since childhood and sensitive to guests with pets, the couple is glad to welcome a few more in the house.
