Darshan homestay is located in one of the affluent areas of the capital. It's a well-maintained and safe neighbourhood with a popular local market. However, the homestay itself is a little away from the regular hustle and bustle, which ensures Darshan's peaceful ambience.
The sun-lit home is maintained by Col. Mohinder Walia and his wife, Sonia Walia. The couple's defence background guarantees that they're excellent hosts with a natural flair for entertaining guests. They manage the homestay with a remarkable combination of innate warmth and uncompromising standards. The energetic couple take a lot of pride in their home and personally oversee its appearance as well as functioning. Darshan is speckled with period furniture some of which used to be owned by Majors of the East India Company. The homestay, which has been fully-functional for the last one year, has two comfortable guest rooms, two spacious common rooms, a garden and even a well-stocked library. The rooms are air-conditioned but provisions for heating are also provided during winters. All rooms have a personal television with cable. And the kitchen produces a virtual smorgasbord of innovative and sumptuous dishes, under the watchful care of Mrs. Walia.
Darshan homestay is a short drive from most of Delhi's tourist attractions. The Baha'i temple also called the Lotus temple, Qutub Minar, Lodhi Garden, Red Fort can all be covered in one day. High-end shopping mall like the City Select Walk and Emporio can keep one occupied for hours. But Janpath and Delhi Haat have a charming indigenous quality which makes them extremely popular amongst tourists and ex-pats. Although reputed salons are within walking distance, massage treatments for women can be arranged at home. A beautician for basic services and a henna artist can also be called on request.

Delhi
Nehru once famously described Delhi as the symbol of old India and new. The present Delhi has evolved from eight successive cities starting from 1060 AD and with British built New Delhi becoming the capital in 1911. The most prominent influences left in Delhi today are the Mughal influence in Old Delhi, with famous monuments such as the Red Fort. ...[read more]
