This up-market modern apartment owned by Vinay Aghi and his wife Pinki is in South Extension; an area made up of calm residential streets interspersed with trees, and an affluent shopping and business district. Vinay, who used to own an export businesses in clothes and furnishings, has designed the interior of the apartment to be both welcoming and sumptuous: the main room is the large sitting room with a stylish monochrome theme, immaculate white sofas and black wooden tables displaying a range of different sculpture. They also have an aquarium.
The family loves high tech gadgets and has many Western influences, whilst retaining a strong sense of their culture and roots. There is much traditional art in the house alongside the state of the art cosmopolitan décor. The east-west combination is also present in the food, where it’s difficult to decide between an excellent continental breakfast and a traditional Indian one… Guests enjoy the unusual combination of staying in a place which appears as exclusive as a good hotel, but which offers a friendly aura of hospitality which is entirely inclusive: Vinay and Pinki love to chat with their guests and several of their foreign guests keep in touch.
The beautiful and equally immaculate terrace garden on top of the house is a perfect place to soak up the sun or relax in the shade; it is particularly striking when floodlit at night. The apartment is also well placed for most monuments in Delhi: the Lotus Temple is nearby and the Lodi Gardens are perfect for a stroll. For a unique cultural experience there is also “Dilli Haat”, a tourist handicrafts village where you can also taste food from all over India.

Delhi
Nehru once famously described Delhi as “the symbol of old India and new”. The present Delhi has evolved from eight successive cities starting from 1060 AD and with British built New Delhi becoming the capital in 1911. The most prominent influences left in Delhi today are the Mughal influence in Old Delhi, with famous monuments such as the Red Fort. ....[read more]
