Munnar

LOCATION
Munnar is a divine plantation-based hill station in Kerala. it is about 4 hours drive from Cochin international airport.

HISTORY
the history of Munnar is rather remarkable. it is said that the rajahs of the region sold 90% of the land to Tata company for pocketchange. But, they added a clause in the contract that only a fixed fraction of Munnar could be brought under construction. As a result, Munnar unlike other popular hill stations has not become a concrete eye-sore.

CUISINE
Most families in Munnar cook using only the freshest and finest ingredients. Many of them own large fields and plantations where vegetables for personal consumption are grown organically. Most recipes are deceptively simple, particularly because they have the same basic principle of preparation. This culinary knowledge is one the most prestigious souvenirs that one can take back from Munnar.

ATTRACTIONS
At The Mattupetty dam the district authorities provide boating facilities. If that's not your thing, you can hire speedboats or motorboats to splash your way up and down the Kundla River. The River is very placid, clean and not crowded at all. The dam itself is a quiet little tourist spot, very family friendly. You can take home various kinds of teas from the makeshift, evening market.

LANGUAGE
The local language is Malayalam. But most people speak English. Hindi is less commonly spoken.
