Straight down National Highway 17 about 35 kilometers from Panaji lies the cultural capital of Goa- Margao. The small town of Margao has today grown to become Goas second largest city.
Margao has an old-worldly charm about it because of the Portuguese churches and the colonial bungalows that line the shaded streets of the city.
About 6 kilometers west of Margao lies the sun-kissed beach of Colva. On the road into Colva from Margao you pass the famous Colva Church, dedicated to Our Lady of Merces. The statue of infant Jesus housed here is said to have miraculous properties.
Colva once used to be a fishing village. Today it is one of the most popular beaches of Goa. With 20 kilometers of white sand, the Colva Beach happens to be the longest beach in Goa.
At the palm-fringed Colva Beach you could either spend your day ordering a chilled beer and basking in the sun or try some adventure activities like a water scooter ride, banana boat ride, jet skiing, speed boat ride or parasailing.
