Location
Madhya Pradesh is one of India's largest states and as the name suggests, it is located in the heart of India.

History
The state boasts of a rich history, which is believed to have roots is Lord Rama's rule. The region passed from many hands before becoming the state called Madhya Pradesh. Some of its rulers were the Mauryas, the Kushanas, Satvahanas, Guptas and the British. The state of Madhya Pradesh was created in 1950 with Nagpur as its capital. In 1956, Madhya Bharat, Vindhya Pradesh and Bhopal were merged extending Madhya Pradesh and Nagpur was ceded to Maharashtra. Bhopal replaced it as the state capital. Madhya Pradesh, as it stands today, came into existence on 1st November 2000 after it was split to create Chhatisgarh.

Language
The primary language is Hindi but Bundelkhandi and English are also heard commonly.

Cuisine
The cuisine of the state varies significantly due to its size. While in Khajuraho one can find countless restaurants serving cuisines of the world in the smaller regions the dishes are primarily Indian and rich.
