LOCATION
Jaipur is located in the deserts of Rajasthan but which are now occupied by urban construction. It is 260 kms from Delhi and together with Delhi and Agra it forms the “Golden Triangle.”

HISTORY
Jaipur has an extremely rich history which dates back to 1727 when it was founded by Maharaja Jai Singh II. It took around 4 years to complete the city's major palaces, roads and square. In 1853, when Prince of Wales visited Jaipur. To welcome him the entire city was painted Pink, this is the origin of Jaipur's moniker, “Pick City”. The city is now the capital of Rajasthan.

CUISINE
Due to the dry climate the food in Jaipur is rich in ghee. The food unique to this region is flavourful and rich. “Dal, baati, choorma” is a popular regional dish. Delightful deep fried snacks are all around and must be topped off with some of countless varieties of sweets, which can be seen everywhere.

LANGUAGE
Rajasthani is the local language which is very similar to hindi. But English is commonly spoken by people particularly those associated with the tourism industry. More often than not you'll find helpful college students on the street who can be asked for directions and aid.

ATTRACTIONS
The city is famous for monuments like Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, City Palace and Amber Fort. These are some of the grandest monuments in India. There are many important temples and gardens in Jaipur like Birla Temple Sisodia rani ka bagh. The vibrant city becomes even more colourful during festivals like holi, diwali, Kite festival, Elephant festival and many others.
